The difference between T-shirts often hides in the spec sheet. Understanding weight, neckline and fit is enough to filter out the wrong options quickly.
Fabric weight sets the feel
Around 180g is ideal for wearing alone in summer: light and breathable. Above 220g feels more structured and works well over a base layer.
The neckline changes your proportions
A crew neck is the most versatile choice for most occasions. A V-neck lengthens the neck line - keep the depth modest. A short stand collar looks sharper under a jacket.
Judge the fit by the shoulder seam
The seam should sit right on the shoulder point: too far in feels tight, too far out looks sloppy. A hem that covers about a third of the waistband is a good length.
